The Garnes Society has officially partnered with BRAVE Coalition Foundation to promote the fundraising campaign for the Ferdinand Ofodile Lecture on Diversity in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

This groundbreaking initiative honors the legacy of Dr. Ferdinand Ofodile, a pioneering Black plastic surgeon and educator, by establishing an annual lectureship that uplifts voices and perspectives historically underrepresented in the field.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and representation within surgical education and practice. By bringing this effort to life, both organizations aim to ensure that future generations of surgeons are informed by a more diverse and inclusive lens.

"BRAVE is honored to partner with The Garnes Society on this important initiative," said Dr. Christine Grogan, Founder of BRAVE Coalition. "Promoting inclusive excellence and addressing disparities in healthcare are central to our mission, as we have done extensive work with Dr. Robert Galiano and Dr. Tokoya Williams on this area at Northwestern University. We believe the Ferdinand Ofodile Lecture will be instrumental in fostering a more inclusive and representative plastic surgery community, ultimately benefiting patients from all backgrounds."

The campaign is actively seeking contributions from plastic surgeons, institutions, and advocates who believe in advancing systemic change within medicine.
